State of the art research has shown that 50 chemicals have hormonal effects on the human body at infinitesimal small amounts. Unfortunately, there are currently 100,000 different chemicals now in use. The vast majority of these chemicals are untested for hormonal disruption. Unfortunately, we are only scratching the surface of this new field which was only come to the forefront of scientific thinking in 1991 even though early experiments in the 1950's gave hints of hormone disruption with DDT. Unfortunately, probably your physician has no knowledge of this field because research takes a long time to get into the practice of medicine especially when it is unprofitable.
Our Stolen Future
The author, Theo Colborn, has compiled
scientific research in a detective story form that logically connects many of our modern diseases such as uterine malformation,
prostate cancer, breast cancer, uterine cancer, and restless leg syndrome on chemicals and plastics that we use in society today. These chemicals
mimic estrogen in our body. Too much estrogen causes proliferation of some types of cells in the body leading to
breast cancer, endometrial cancer, or even prostate cancer. Her assertions are well documented by scientific research.
She has collected scientific studies from around the world and pieced them together in a coherent logical format.
This book spurred the United States Congress to order the EPA in 1996 to study hormonal effects of chemicals in our society.
A well written interesting classic on hormone disrupters especially for the doubter.
Healthy Living in a Toxic World
Cynthia Fincher, Ph.D., offers simple
ways to alter our lifestyle with a minimum of effort to decrease our chance of cancer, auto immune disease such
as arthritis, lupus, and multiple sclerosis. She concentrates on scientific studies that show toxicity of modern
chemicals commonly in use in our modern society. She notes that chronic toxicity and synergistic effect of chemicals
is largely untested. Neurotoxicity such as headaches, fuzzy impaired thinking and memory impairment is largely
uuntested in the vast majority of chemicals now in use. She boils this all down to practical measures that you
can easily achieve to better your health and your mental acuity. A must read for the pragmatic agnostic who is sick.
The Breast Cancer Prevention Diet
Dr. Bob Arnot makes a shocking statement,
"Only a few percent of Breast Cancer can be accounted for by genetic causes! The remaining percent must be
accounted for by environmental causes." Every physician knows that Breast Cancer incidence is tied to estrogen
exposure. The more estrogen exposure, the greater the incidence of Breast Cancer. Arnot cites the example of women
in Thailand and Sri Lanka. The death rate due to Breast Cancer in Thailand is only 2-5 per 100,000 women. In the
United States, the Breast Cancer death rate is 30-40 per 100,000 women.
When these Asian women move to the United States, their children have breast
cancer rates approaching that of American women. When women move from countries of high breast cancer risk to that
of a lower one, their risk declines as well.
Dr. Arnot has practical suggestions on foods that have estrogen blocking effects that are used by many Breast Cancer patients. Some early research that he cites using foods as estrogen blockers hint that the results are better than tamoxifen with much less side effects. In other words, according to Arnot, rat studies showed eating ground flax seeds showed a large reduction in Breast Cancer size without the side effects of Tamoxifen.
This book should be required reading for anyone with Breast Cancer.
What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Menopause
John Lee, M.D., a Norwegian, wrote
this book from the viewpoint of a pragmatic practitioner applying research to his daily medical practice in California. He
claims that osteoporosis, Uterine fibroid tumors ( myomas ), premenstrual syndrome ( PMS ), endometrial cancer, PMS premenstrual
syndrome, uterine fibromas, restless leg syndrome ( RLS ) and endometrial cancer come from too much estrogen relative to progesterone. He has
personally cured many of these diseases with simply natural progesterone cream. He readily admits that progesterone
cream is not a panacea for this disease and that proper nutrition and the avoidance of xenoestrogens, alcohol and
smoking is essential. He presents actual Bone Scan Density data that shows that he was able to increase bone density
to normal in a severely osteoporotic elderly lady. He claims to have replicated his results in several hundred
patients. This ground breaking book and should be required reading for your Family Practice physician or Obstetric/Gynecologist.
What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Premenopause
John Lee, M.D., a Norwegian, wrote
this book as a refinement of the book above. There is a greater emphasis on chemicals in our environment that act
as estrogens that have caused much of the female diseases seen by Obstetric/Gynecologists. In addition, Jesse Hanley, MD
adds the psychological component to this mix. How you think affects your brain chemistry.
Brain chemistry affects your body chemistry. If you are a women,
you should read this book. You could avoid much heartache, medical problems and medical
bills by reading this.
An Alternative Approach to Allergies
We typically find that many of our patients who have Restless Leg Syndrome are also suffering from chemical injury. The hallmark of chemical injury is the hypersensitivity of smell OR the loss of smell. Theron Randolf, M.D. has treated thousands of chemically injured patients and shows the link between allergies, autoimmune disease and chemical injury.
What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Breast Cancer
According to some scientists, genetic causes
only account for 5% of all breast cancer cases. The rest of the 95% of breast cancer is caused by
environmental causes. Find out how to cut your risk of breast cancer! Get this book and READ IT.
6 hours of reading could save your life!
Restless Leg Syndrome is only one of the modern day diseases that did not exist in such abundance before the industrialized world. The science of hormone disruption although new is no longer in doubt from the weight of the epidemiology and animal studies. Even though the science hormone disruption is well established, there is not much money in it. If anything, industry and physicians face tremendous medical legal liability from hormone disrupters and sometimes try to keep it quiet.
Women are finding that they must take back responsibility for their own health and put it back into their own hands.
I have to go to work but wanted to send a quick email to tell you what a
difference this has made in my life.
The first month I had to stop taking and eliminate some more products from
my life. The second month though has been going great!
I only drink water and some juices now and have purchased both olive oil
soap from Elysian Dream and the laundry detergent from
Nature Clean....love it! I am having somewhat tender breasts now (this
week) and think that it may be due to the oncoming menstrual cycle.
Anyway....the other differences I have experienced are incredible. My mood
is so much better.....so, even keel and feeling great! Also I have
lost 15 pounds in two (2) months without even really trying (this was not
something intentional). I still eat the same amount...only now I eat
better. The extra fat around my waste line is leaving and almost gone. I
am 39 years old and have struggled with monthly issues and breast pain
for quite some time. This year the breast pain was becoming extremely
severe and my doctor didn't really have any answers. Also a couple lumps
were found on my mammogram (diagnosed as cysts). I will write more later to
you about this but must leave for work now. Oh, my weight, two months
ago was 145 pounds and now I am 130 pounds (had to purchase new clothes). I
am getting my body back and my skin has cleared up and my hair feels great
(It seemed as though my hair kept thinning and now it has stopped in that I
don't seem to have as much falling out when I run my fingers through it).
Why don't more people know about this! I have begun telling everyone I
know, that will listen.......
Thank you for having your website and sharing this news,
Tracy
